Quality Assurance:

 

·  The establishment of distance learning Programs is set within the context of the University’s Mission and is compatible with the University’s Strategic Plan.

·  Responsibility for academic standards of all Programs leading to an award or award of credit of the University rests with Board of Governors.

·  All Programs are subject to the principles laid down in the University's Quality Control practices.

·  All Programs of study/learning materials/units are subject to prevailing University requirements on annual monitoring and 4 yearly reviews. The relevant Department is responsible for the scrutiny of such reports and for ensuring that action is taken in response to any issues of concerns arising from such reports. Student progression will be carefully monitored as part of the annual monitoring system.

·  Any major changes to the Program/Units/Learning Materials are subject to approval through the normal University procedures before they are implemented.

·  All students will be provided with details of the Program, including assessment requirements and their entitlements and expectations with regard to learning resources.

·  University Board of Governors will approve all staff appropriate to teach on the Program. Staffing changes will be notified in advance to the Board of Governors along with a supporting CV.

·  Procedures for, and interactions with, students registered on the Program/Unit will conform to the University's Students Policy.

·  Students will receive information regarding the support mechanisms available to them including information on the personal tutoring system, appropriate feedback mechanisms, and appropriate communication methods.

·  Assessment undertaken at a distance is in accordance with prevailing University regulations and guidelines ensuring comparability of standards.

·  All External Examiners will be appointed by the University.  

·  Appropriate mechanisms, such as unit evaluation surveys, exist to ensure effective feedback from students on all aspects of their learning experience.  

· Consideration is be given to the staff development requirements for staff associated with the development and delivery of all distance learning Programs including appropriate arrangements for peer observation.
